When talking to people at msn you can send ppl links right.
But try to send a link to someone with the url:
http://www.ventrilo.com/download.php

msn doesnt allow it, try for yourself.

The same thing happens with pidgeon in linux.
So i guess it doesnt have anything to do with the client.
