Q6600 or E6850?

Hi,
I'm getting a new PC for Xmas but I want to know what Processor is better?
Intel Core2 Quad Q6600(4x3 GHZ)
Or
Intel Core2 Duo E6850(2x4 GHZ)
Many people tell me that the E6850 is better for gaming but that the Q6600 is more for the future (so games as Crysis and that stuff will better run on a Q6600 than a E6850) Is this true, and what Processor do you advice me.
Thanks

quad fo sho
im getting new pc to,

Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4 Ghz 8 Mb L2 Boxed w/ Cooler S775

OR

Intel Core 2 Quad Q9450?
cool thing is, q6600 is ultracheap (compared to the other quads) and is easily overclockable to 3ghz and further...

soo go for q6600

if you only play games 2 cores, if you render movies 4 cores.
Yeah but. I play games and do alot of editing too.
Parent
then go quad core :)

imba for rendering and works good, but a little slower for gaming.

(got the quad myself)
Parent
quad only if you work professional.

audioproducing, videostuff, architecture, rendering stuff...

quad for gaming is stupidity :)
depends on price, E6850 could be almost easy overclocked
Difference is 10 euro's.

I would take Q6600 then :D
Parent
e6850 :)

dual core for gaming..unless u do lots of editing
um, I guess the only editing anyone here does is in ET movies... doesn't exactly demand a quadcore... I think you would probably have majorly better results with a faster core2duo

wait to see wat santa brings you and be happy...
Wait for AMD Phenom =)
I've taken shits that clock better performance than Phenom.

Q6600 for sure.
dual core man, i have a 6600 (2.4gHz) and with basic kit i could overclock it at 3gHz
Intel® Core 2 Extreme QX9650 first Yorkfield
Level2 Cache amazing!!!!
up to 4GHz (x4) !!!!
so wait for it!

just 1000€ :D
2 cores are more than enough for everything atm.... and yes quad is the future, but when games and programs will start using 4 cores, quad will be very poor or ull get 10x better cores for the price u want to spend now...
an overclocked c2d beats easily q6600 , even my e6750 which runs at 3900 :o
dual core
My Q6600 plays every game on maximum, and more games will be quad core compatible in the future, go for quad
Quad core for the future mate
Q6600 is like 4 Processors and lots of glue with for the new q-core Processors
