what makes pclinuxos better then any other linux distro?
It's pretty much more friendly to new(est) hardware, IMHO

it runs old software though

quote from: http://www.pclinuxos.org/

Texstar and the Ripper Gang are pleased to announce the final release of PCLinuxOS 2007. Featuring kernel 2.6.18.8, KDE 3.5.6, Open Office 2.2.0, Firefox 2.0.0.3, Thunderbird 2.0, Frostwire, Ktorrent, Amarok, Flash, Java JRE, Beryl 3D and much much more

The fun par is that it supports my (not the newest one) MB, but for example Ubuntu doesnt (atleast not for 100%) :)

MB: Gigabyte "S-Series" GA-M56S-S3

The only great minus for PClinuxOS is that it runs on KDE - that makes me feel lik I'm on windows again.. :(

Gnome > KDE imo , but as KDE & this distro seems to love my pc more than Gnome & Ubuntu... ;X

it's a live cd right? gonna give it a spin
Parent
It has a very simple and understandable (even for windows noobs) install option also! ;x

/me is ubuntu user :)

i see that pclinuxos is mandriva based
Parent
It is, but the RPM nightmare is pretty much solved by introducing Synaptic system, so no worries on dependencies and any other RPM related crap ;)

i'm just gonna try it, tiny chance i'm gonna switch distro though, i'm quite happy with ubuntu. Ooh and btw, KDE 4 is coming soon, saw some preview vids and they look nice, eventhough i'm not a kde fan. (feels too mickey mouse for me)

just don't get why it's running beryl and not compiz fusion

TBH I'm not KDE fan too, but yet it's pretty friendly to any users.. and yet I've switched to atleast GNOME icons to return feeling of real linux OS :D

And yeah, @ work I prefer Ubuntu due to it's simple use of even windows software -,-

best ones Debian and all bsd and sunos

OLD! xD

hf
Debian could be (and is in terms of stability) the best if it would support the latest hardware pieces (atleast in couple of days after their release)

Ubuntu > PCLinuxOS shit
TBH Gentoo > *

But as I'm not that skilled, then anything what is on .deb packages for me is also > *

But as my MB is kinda.. not aviable on Ubuntu - PClinuxOS for me is atm > all :C
