tbh next CDC should be CoD4 only with much more prize money and maybe think about a better location (nothing against wzzrd) but germany would be better than the netherlands.
much more teams would attend (especially german and eastern-european teams because its nearer).
i know germany has stricter rules but just make the lan 18+ only and its np.
cdc5:
- in central germany
- much more prize money
- only CoD4
i think the signups for cdc4 show which game is interesting and it should attract many sponsors.
what do you guys think about it?
especially tosspot?

xfire = wolf
First of all the Crossfire community was based on old RCTW/ET users and to change the CF lans to cod4 only would be a huge mistake by Crossfire since they would lose about 70% of their visitors on it. Crossfire wouldn't have become so great without ET so they need to give something in advance for that. But thats my personal opinion.
- much more prize money : It won't change anything... I don't think it's only ONE sponsor for EVERY games.
- only CoD4 : What a joke dude... You're not even registered on crossfire for 5 months and you wanna change everything... CPC/CDC was created for ET.
CDC5 will be based in USA.
Games will most likely be NHL 2009, Fifa 2009, NFL 2009 and maybe Crysis.
Entrance fee will be $50 for players, $25 for spectators.
The lan will be based on the gaylord ranch (same place where Qcon used to be) and will be BYOC.
Sponsored by EA, prizepot will be around $200000
games: ET, RtCW, CoD4
date: weekend of 11 July
And it's only 15 minutes from the german border, so np.
turn your sarcasm detectors on
all locations should be fine, but i was in lüdenscheid, iserlohn and plettenberg already and they should fit the cdc needs. ;-)
retard
its just that nobody plays et and without cod this would be the last CDC because the sponsors wouldnt be interested in supporting a lan with 7 teams.
damn, I'm a nobody together with a huge percent of crossfire ppl :<
just look at the signups for cdc4, crossfire, an ET newspage.
and after doing all that you can fo from an mostly ET community asking for ET not to be played, how about that?
i just wanted to discuss this topic like adults but now i c why ETers dont want cdc in germany, because they are not older than 17.
I'm 18+ AND from Germany... still i realise that this idea is bullshit.
contrary to cod4 et doesn't have as many huge mgc's who can give lansupport. so it's not a suprise they cannot sign up 3 months before the lan. And lots of ppl are still looking for a cdc-team. most teams will probably signup shortly before the signups are closing.
yes, crossfire was made by eters for eters, but ET IS DEAD, face it!
7 signups for a FREE game whereas cod has 40.
and it should be in germany with only adults allowed, ofc.
noone below the age of 18 should play cod on the lan.
in other words, GTFO
i'd rather see warsow on this high level but it has a small community.
love or not, life goes on.
but be honest, read all this comments once more and then think about why players of other games dont visit crossfire.
it has the biggest player base and its central europe.
the rules of germany are no problem, just dont allow kids.
but you are an adult in europe with the age of 18 years.
fu @ cod only
cod4 is in germany and other countries not violent free so they decided that only adults should play it.
just forbid players/teams under the age of 18 and there are no problems at all.
there will still be much more teams than now in the netherlands.
so
it shows how retarded you are.
gtfo
plz define this word.
whats egoistic in showing/hosting a game which has MUCH more players and MUCH more spectaturs and which is MUCH more interesting.
democracy, m8.
limited to or caring only about yourself and your own needs
i doubt that cod4 is more interesting than et and yes i played both
i agree that cod4 might be more interesting on a commercial level but the nostalgic elements this site holds should not thrown away for some more money and even if there would be only 4 teams playing the et tournament(like it was for rtcw at cdc2) they would still have their fun and this site is mainly made for the ppls fun and not for the owners pocket
democracy in an internet community site? boy you need a reality check
but not for the owners pocket, for the winners pocket!
i can see why you guys whine, nostalgy is really nice but hey, money > all in esport :(
sad but true
i got a more beautiful gf than you have ever seen in your life, nerd.
makes me think that you care more about money than fun in esp
using RL arguments in inetz isnt really the coolest possible way btw :-D
=)
"much more" price money: do you wanna pay it?
cod4 only: no thanks
--> one of the most useless journals ever
much more price money: no i dont, but sponsors will give more if there are more teams/players.
--> one of the most useless comments ever
and like I said, watch the signups shortly before the lan, if there are still less than 10 teams then, feel free to call et dead and i will not deny it.
I'm gonna try to summarize your "arguments".
- ET IS DEAD (7 teams only)
I can only repeat myself have a look at the signups when they are closed. There will be way more signups by then. Since ET doesn't have as many huge mgc's who can offer financial lansupport than COD it is kinda clear that teams cannot signup very early. ofcourse ET won't reach the same amount of singups as COD (40 so far) but it would rly supprise me if ET won't get at least 16-20 signups, which are enough for a small tournament (e.g. 4 groups / 4 teams each). Furthermore lots of et players are still looking for a cdc-team and will probably form teams and play as "mixedteams" there. ET not being as "huge" as cod is already reflected in the lower prize purse.
- "Kids" don't belong on lan
I'd even call this argument invalid since you wouldn't even have been allowed to play at CD(P)C 2 or 3 either then. Lots of teams also contain players which are 17 or w/e and it would suck quite hard to force them to kick a player out of the lineup because of that. Moreover, i don't see the great advantage which Germany would offer, even though i'm from Germany.
- More money, the "commercial way"
CPC/CDC wasn't formed to be the next Quakecon. I guess most ppl won't play the game for the money since hardly anyone can get enough money by winning a lan every few months. Having fun is the main purpose of a computer game in my opinon and that's also what cdc is and should be about. It can easily be seen that you are a new member and you don't know about the history of CPC/CDC and about the reasons why it was founded. Even though CF expanded into other games like COD, ET is still an important headstone of CF, the large amount of the CF-community is from the ET-part of the community.
- ET community sux, flame only, can't argue
Welcome to Crossfire!
just tell what harm have underaged ppl done at CDCs / CPCs and compare it to the amount of money that they've brought to the arrangers
ET is like the cpm community, flame flame flame without any arguments.
this community was made for rtcw and et, it also took cod with it, but that doesnt mean it has to be cod only :s this community is made for the ET community not for the money, it is made so people who support ET can be able to play on lans aswell, cf is there for its community, it is made by people for people, not made by people to get money out of it!
and thats what you are forgetting, in those lans it's not all about the money it's also about the game, be happy they are supporting cod4 with such an amount of money, and be happy they want to bring in the game with such an amount of avi slots because you are being very ungreatful!

When we started with the Crossfire events back in 2006, Toss and I knew that Holland had all the ingredients for us to grow.
It is cheap to fly into, hotels are relatively cheap. We would have the possibility of ventures and built partnerships with it.
Our business model is reliant on a game cafe with enough capacity for people to play, to spectate and have good access to public transportation. WZZRD Enschede has it and is practically at the German border.
The biggest reason why I do not want to cross the border is the heavy restrictions and laws that Germany has on showing these "violent" games to minors. Even if it would be some kid just passing by, I need to make sure he would not watch on one of the screens. The legislation is ridiculous there.
Another factor is that there is a fair chunk of crew, players that are coming from the UK. Cancel their portion out against the Germans and Holland is suddenly becoming a central location as well.
On your other point that CDC5 should be just CoD4, I think you know my answer already by the community's reaction. Crossfire is a multi-game community and we will continue to keep it like that.
ET is what made this big and no one should ever forget its roots, because that would be a betrayal of your own people. CDC5 surely could be CoD4 only, but then CDC5 part 2 would have ET, ETQW and whatever other game we would have. However, that would solely be based on capacity and technical limitations.
CoD4 is becoming a huge community and could take off a large chunk of the entire crossfire community, but the group of ET players will surely remain active here to a large degree.
Just because there is a relative shift in the games within the community, does not mean we can and will dismiss them.
I hope I have explained you a little bit how TosspoT and I have approached the Crossfire Challenges. Great competitions is key, but the social side to us is at least just as important, if not more.
People keep coming back, even though they know they will never win, because they know they will have a great weekend. It is the community side, that is the main factor behind that.
So bad then that only 1% of the players will ever get any money for the game they are playing.
Game is dead when the players stop enjoying it and/or will stop playing it.
There still is a community for BG2. Forums and modmakers are active daily. They don't get any money for playing that game but it is hell a lot of fun to play. And actually ET is still supported by CB,ESL and CF, there is even some support from other communities: SGL-AC for example.
There is plenty of CoD4 only cups around there. This is CF cup which means that there is tournament for each game supported by crossfire. Have a nice day to you tide, you ain't the smartest kid on the block.
Oh my god, i wasted 10 minuts to read his fuckin opinions
