zonemegs is the amount of memory your pc can use for the graphics.
or was it hunkmegs?

higher hunkmegs loads maps faster

zonemegs - the amount of memory allocated to loading maps
hunkmegs - the memory used for the entire game (I think? :o)
soundmegs - self explanatory
