G5 1KHZ

hello.

anyone of you using your Logitech G5 mouse with 1000mhz set in the Setpoint software/drivers? ..

is it really any advantage or just the same resource eating crap like the 1000mhz usbport.sys hack ?

1000Hz will use more resources, but with a good cpu the difference is in my opinion noticable! As many people think 500Hz and 1000Hz is just 1ms difference (unnoticable for humans), but it's not only about reaction time, it's also preventing negative accel and it's more accurate. If you can get 1000Hz stable (use dx mouse timer imo, better than mouserate and usbrate) then go for it :}.
well back then when i used/tried usbport.sys hack, it felt sometimes unstable, due to eating lots of resources. with the g5 drivers it felt abit more ok but still cocky sometimes.
yesterday i went back to 500mhz and it felt smooth and better.

can you hand me a link to that dx mouse timer ??

hmmm .. according to that tool and mouserate.exe .. my g5 doesnt even run with 1000hz .. if i set it to 1000, both tools still show 500hz .. :(

ok, it seems to be happening when both mice a plugged in.

mx518 AND g5 .. now with the g5 only the rate switching works. .

500 / 1000hz .. weird :(
Parent
both mice cant handle 1000Hz, because of the large datapath.
Parent
so why is logitech claiming their mouse is able to work with 1000hz ? (The G5 that is)
Parent
As far as i can remember the first revision of g5's have been released as 500Hz, the new g5 is 1000Hz (i didnt know yet, but just checked it out).. that should be stable.
Parent
btw u dont need to use a rate change tool for changing the pollingrate of the g5. You either need to set it by setpoint or its 1000Hz by default (not sure myself since i never got a g5)
Parent
ye, i have the G5 v2 .. and always change the rate via setpoint. no other tools.

but i found out that i can't use 1000hz when my mx518 is still plugged in. now i have to figure out what rate feels best :s
Parent
me has my logitech mx518 @ 1000 dpi @ setpoint lol

+ 0,75 sens = ownage
i used 1kHz too, it was working decent but still G5 sucks
why does the random jitter appear at 125Hz, anyone? Have it in Q3 and ET. Using mx518, now set to 250 Hz (prob = gone then)
how much dpi are you running at, and what resolution? It also depends on the surface and type of sensor.
Parent
800*600 120 Hz, QcK + mx518@125Hz 1600 DPI

now I use

1024*768 120 Hz, QPadCT +mx518@250 Hz 800 DPI

It's the same jitter like the mx500 had at 125 Hz. Not constant, but there on random moments. Not even moving the mouse sometimes... If I disregard the jitter, it actually doesn't matter in aim but ofc you notice it and that's disturbing imo.

(edited this reply twice now xD)

1600dpi for 800*600 is overkill, did u try both os and setpoint implementation? Did u ever clean your mouse sensor with a qtip? XD
Parent
No, I never cleaned it, but in a public Q3:cpma server 1 guy said to me that he played with the 125Hz jitter because a higher rate would affect his accelleration (think he was using cl_mouseaccel), so was thinking it's a common problem at 125 Hz . Have you tried playing at 125 Hz for longer then an hour?
Parent
give me some advice too :(

1280x1024 qck+ deathadder 1800 dpi, 500hz :/
Parent
whats the problem?
Parent
sometimes its like ubersmooth and sometimes like uber skippy
Parent
r_mode 6
habu 1000 hz 2000dpi .
used to play @ g5 1000hz , 400dpi but mouse died ;/
