reminds me of the Soviet Union's great invention, the anti-tank dogs:

By doing so, a detonator (usually a small wooden lever) would go off, triggering the explosives and damaging or destroying the military vehicle while killing the dog in the process.

too bad the dogs couldn't know which ones of the tanks were their own and which were the enemies' so they exploded a bit of Soviets' tanks as well.
