macbook alternative?

Hi, I am wondering if anyone could help me with laptops.
I am thinking of buying a macbook, but it's hardware isn't the best. So maybe you could recommend me something that looks as good as macbook, but which is a bit faster and not too expensive. The only alternative I could think of is Dell XPS M1330.

Nothing is better than a Mac. We had our first mac in year 1986 :)

and the specs don't matter so much, because I don't think u are going to play games on it..

yeah sure they are, although there aren't so many games for macs anyway, but just in general I don't like playing games on laptop. I used to have only PC laptop and it kinda sucked because it didn't run games very well. I think usually ppl use laptops for other means than gaming :)

well, i am buying laptop mostly for studying and work, but as i have a very old pc at home, playing games on mac is going to be better than on pc.

be carefull with the warranty @ macbooks, a friend of mine bought one, they are uberfragile (as all other apple products), his dvd player doesnt work anymore, so he send it in, they asked 640€ to fix it and he didnt accept it, they just send it back broke (still 50€ shipment costs to pay)
for the rest they are stable, nice, but think about it twice :o

lol he did..he 'slammed' as he told me while playing poker :D on that dvd player, i've seen it and theres rly no damage from the outside
anyway it got fucked up from the inside i suppose then, but 640€ to make it while having warranty, bullshit :x

I guess they could see it somehow that your friend "caused" the dmg and it didn't happen in normal use :p

but sounds strange though. I have heard only positive feedback about Apple otherwise

yes i know, but they should fix it no? apple rly fails in my eyes then if it comes to warranty...
if nothing's wrong with your MB ..you've made a nice buy, but when things like this happen, thats just lame

i myself have used 2 asus'es, the warranty expired @ dec 07, i've send my old one in, around november, they fixed everything, gave a new charge cable, changed keyboard, the screen, everything to the last detail.
i've got my thoughts when i see this..

I never buy PCs as whole packets, but I always buy the parts and build them myself, so I don't know about them. But at least our Apples have worked very well (we have had ~10 Macs) and the only problem we had, got repaired for free for warranty. So can't say anything bad about them. We still got a working Mac plus that was bought in 1986.

cant say anything about their pc's as whole packets because I don't know about that& their warranty
but about the macbooks& MB pro's (alot of students have this at our uni), thats something else.. :p
