Vent + ET

When I load up ET and try to talk on vent other players on vent cant hear me ( I get no green light), either with' Push to Talk' and 'Voice Activation', i can hear them talking but they cant hear me. For other games like CoD4 and WoW ventrilo runs fine, but for ET everytime I press my activation nothing happens. Im on Vista atm yea yea i know its shit but ET runs fine for me its just vent im having problems with. Any ideas on how to fix this id apreciate it. Thanks
