PC Hardware...

I'd like to upgrade my PC's processor , video card and possibly motherboard ...

For a good quality / price ratio , what do you admit as best ?

I wouldn't buy a new PC as I already have some new RAM and a new HDD ...

Just give me some ideas & possibly links !

Thanks , love.

depends on the money you will spend...

i would say Q6600 QuadCore is atm one of the best quality/price cpus.

video card... i bought my 8800 GTS on ebay for 250€,... tahts a good price
Price for the Q6600 quadcore , in a fair average ? For my processor i'm willing to spend max 150€ :S

For my video card ... well ... i don't know , maybe a modded one ...

hm... you can overclock the q6660 from his normal 2,4GHz to 3,00 GHz with normaly no problem if you have a more powerfull cooler

so i would say its a fair average yes ^^

hm.. 150€, my cousin buyed the AMD 6400+ Dual Core with 2x 3,2 GHz for 163 euros... but im not the AMD fan, but hes still running xD

/EDIT: you should reach the 3.00GHz smoothly with the ZALMAN CNPS 9700 NT, the cooler price here in austria is ~ 56€

the intel extreme quad core with 3.00GHz costs... dontk now ... here in austria about 800-850 euros, so the price difference is enormous

Thanks for your help , i'll google that processor =o

games don't care about quadcore, just buy a random dualcore core2duo and overclock it.

i heared crysis allready using all the cores.. and in the future more games will so i would go for the quadcore, have one myself too and it owns for 214euros =)

As you can see no games are using 4 cores at the moment, only few video applz use it and 3d appz so at the moment dualcore @ high frequency are more appreciate.
Parent
crysis is using,.. but okey..
Parent
+4 fps is using ? okey..

any thread-like software prefers more cores: video rendering/mastering; modelling; archiving; calculating. And the main thing they have bigger cache that should influence almost on all applications. And yes crysis is optimized for 4 cores, claiming it will have ~30% performance increase over single core. And these new penryn cpu's and new phenoms are using 65nm tech.process, which gives you less power consumption and other good things, like higher clockspeed stability @ high frequency, more reliability and other shit. So in other words you are VERY WRONG.

Strange this benchmark don't show what you're saying, in other word : TRY TO BE BETTER INFORMED.

ur link sends me to 1x1 spacer pic. But I must say that some hardware sites are influenced by big companies, so you can't believe it 100%.

Try this link :

But I can't follow you because you can see in their test that to have a Quadcore don't help you alot.

Like + 5 fps for an extrem edition @ 3 Ghz at 1000 € versus a cheap dualcore @ 3 Ghz at 230 €, it shows the useless marketing about quadcore imo (native quadcore or not).

Don't you think that too ?
Parent
Probably crysis didnt have quadcore optimization feature at the time review was written so no surprise. And other games aren't "thread-hungry" and some of them are not even optimized for 2 cores. Just check 3d rendering tests, it's enough. Anyway in the future there will be more and more cores on a single cpu.
Parent
yes, youre right, just buy any random dualcore, best the cheapest you can find and overclock it... lmao
Parent
random core2duo ! :b But I know I'm not the good exemple with my E6850 @3,8 Ghz stable ! 0:)
Parent
Q6600 one of the best at price/performance? Please, E6750 is just a better option. It is 100€ cheaper and u can OC it easily
Parent
uh u need to replace the motherboard before u replace the others brainz?
OWLY?
I'm shit @ computer stuff =[

I just want a better processor and possibly a good video card ='(

A5U5 P5K + 1ntel 6x50 CPU + n\/idia 88oo (G92)

---> Best Qualitiy / Price Ratio !!!

EDIT: You should additionally buy a cheap AMD-CPU (3Bay ~ 5-10€) to shit a BAD load on it
