dunno if it's told in these movies, but it's quite interesting idea: if string theory is true, there is a possibility that the particles created in big particle-accelerators can destroy earth and/or life on it in a second. 8D

this is actually out already a year or two. Scientist are still working on perfecting the M-Theory I read somewhere.
however this is a nice theory but very hard to proove...
