I've been brushing up on my law lately (partially due to the info from Photography mags and people trying to tell me stuff)
Does anyone have any useful links I can check out that could be relevant to this topic?
There was an interesting article in this months Digital camera magazine which tried to cover Photography and the law, telling you the things you can and cannot do.
Some examples:
Kids in a park - Taking pictures of children inside a public park isn't a crime. For non-commercial use it's fine, as long as the pictures were decent and there are no bylaws that prevent photography. If there are bylaws in place then you'll need to seek prior permission from the authorities. You'll also need permission if you're shooting commercially.
Street candids around towns or cities - Photographers are free to take photos of people in public places commercially or non-commercially and there's no criminal law in the UK that prevents this. However, if you'd like to shoot commercially then a model release form, and in some cases a building release form will have to be sought to enable you to public or sell images.
Need to read on Section 44 of the Terrorism Act 2000, Child protection act, Official secrets act and a few other things later on.
---
I'm also searching for information on some laws regarding the Police
e.g. them stopping to search you and question you: you're allowed to ask for a search warrent or someone in your presence?
What they can and cannot do.
Danke

Well Mayhem is a police officer in UK so try find him somewhere on mirc :)
Things might have changed since I did law, relating to photography, but as far as I know there are no restrictions. The question about taking pictures of children is a very dodgy issue, but a court would have to "prove" that the pics were being used for indecent purposes.
Anyway, all this info is readily available, maybe ask a university if you can use a law library..
But here it is:
