installation prob

hey, my friend is getting this after the installation of et and trying to connect to server:

couldn't load an official pak file, verify your installation and make shure it has been updated to the latest version

whats the reason?

Doesnt stand there which pak.file is corrupted? if not, its the pak0.pk3 imo

I have this problem on my computer at home, I'm on my laptop on Vista atm and it works fine. I guess he is on XP, reinstalling will fix the problem. Remember to remove registry entries and delete the folders left behind in program files.

I am not running Windows XP atm so I have no clue myself?
Off my head I think it is located in -
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Activision\.

Delete all the entries, then delete all folders relating to ET within (deftault) C:/PROGRAM FILES/WOLFENSTEIN ENEMY TERRITORY, and the main folder itself.

Restart computer for allowing settings to be reset, and then re install wolfet, then 2,60b patch.

All should be fine.

hey, I have just got home and worked out a fix for your problem :).

Uninstall ET, remove the folder from program files.

INSTALL ET

Download the 2.60 patch - INSTALL THAT

DOWNLOAD 2.60b patch - copy the files and overwrite within wolfet folder.

Update PB using.

And all will work perfectly!

WHY ??

PATCH 2.60 UPDATES PK3 FILES AND INSTALLS DIFFERENT PK3 FILES INTO THE WOLFET FOLDERS. NOT UPDATING TO THIS MEANS THAT THE GAME IS MISSING THE UPDATES. IF YOU JUST SKIP TO 2.60B PATCH IT WILL DEFINATELY NOT WORK AS THE FILES ARE NOT THERE :).
