Advanced Physics

Oké, I know most of u will find this extremely stupid, but here goes for those who care:

http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/elegant/program.html

If u have nothing to do and want to wast some time I suggest u take a look at the site, it explains on an understandable way the very basics of quantumphsyics and the theory of relativity...I will never be able to grasp the idea fully but it's amazing what they explain.

hf watching :>

to hard to understand that in english :x
Great thing, really.
i always found it very hard to understand physics, maths and chemistry in english :)
mm yes, agreed but they explain it on an understandable level of english afaik but well :p you either like or u don't...i don't like it that much either but it really amazed me so i thought i'd share it :P

i just get strangled by all the different words

for example 'bereken de oppervlakte' would be nP4Me in dutch, but 'measure the area' makes the problem twice as hard xD
Parent
most of it is completely false anyway, imo physics should be only stuff that can be proved

8<
most things are proven, stringtheory isn't and some others aren't aswell but every idea has been developed by the smartest ppl in the world so np if u believe them and it turns out to be false :>
Parent
"developed by the smartest ppl " x-D
Parent
lol they actually are...unless ur able to prove that u know more of physics than a team of professors from outstanding universitys
Parent
Smart is such a fuzzy ability, I'd say "highly specialized in the only subjects they are interested in".
Parent
well, not rly, since that kind of advanced physics really acquire extraordinay mathematical knowledge and insight in things that you aren't able to look at or could ever experiment...it's not only 1 skill they have but alot of them give them the insight
Parent
But that is not the defenition of smart.

Actually, recently proof for stringtheory has been given, although not convincing enough to be accepted, it is an indicator that the propability of it being true is very big ;)
Parent
haha, it isn't false dude ;)
the theory of relativity is for larger objects, and for the subatomic level you have the quantumphysics. these two have been approved by most of the scientists, but the problem is, these two theories interfere with eachother, causing an error. Now, finally, a theory has been found which can explain both theories together, and it's called string theory. The maths are correct from the theory, only there's one problem, it's nearly impossible to prove. Though, recently evidence which can be seen as proof for the stringtheory has been given, but not convincing enought to be accepted as true. Though it gives a good image of the possibility of stringtheory being true :>

Is it possible you can give me a scientific article about this recent discovery? Or where to find it? :P

Yea, watched these episodes months ago. Quite interesting.
omg I posted this like a week ago, and it's online for months already, gg though ;/

edit: kinda funny, this is the study I've started a week ago :)
although first on highschool graduation, and then university :>
Schrödinger's cat. <3
The cat is dead. D.E.A.D. Do you have any problems understanding that?

:}
Parent
Superstate for life.
Parent
she isn't :<
Parent
if u dont look into the box, u dont know wether its dead or not
Parent
man, i'm telling you... the cat is DEAD! Bring me a box, a cat, and some poison, i shall show you :) We'll call it Vi3cH's Ca7 ^^

I know what you mean, but this is really funny :)

Watch the above if you want to have a two minute explanation of string theory.
thats amazin and thats why i m studiing physics :)

such an awesome stuff
are you srsly? cool! I've applied for a highschool physics graduation course too, and after that I'd like to do university.

Cool man, that you do the same ;)
Parent
i started technical physics last october on the TU vienna

it is a huge part of math in the beginning but its great
Parent
niiiice, I envy you :D
Parent
mm, i wanted to do the same but in BE, prolly everywhere else, it's one of the hardest things u can do so it's way out of my lead :(
Parent
only maths is hard in the beginninge...

later on quantenmechanics and electrodynamics is pritty hard but i think if u re into it and like it, its no prob
