AGP4X

im gonna buy a graphics card tomorrow, and since my pc is as old as the internet, my m/b has only 1 agp 4x slot. im wondering, can i buy an agp 8x card, or is it incompatible??

im thinking about 50 euros, any recommendations?

You can buy a 8x one.. but it will use 4x only.. .as far i know..

just asked a friend now.. he told me that im right.. but just wait for more questions...its like use a hdd sata 2 at a sata (1) motherbaord.. it works but not at full power..

xD there is no difference between sata 1 and sata 2 only that sata 2 cables have a clip for holding it secure!

yep i used a x8 on a x4 board for quite a while. Fps aint just about your gfx though, by the sounds of things your cpu is shit so wouldnt get the most out of a new card anyway. Cheap way to upgrade would be to get a cheapo mobo with agp and pci e, got an asrock one thats alright. Then u can use your old card and just buy a pci e card when you have the cash.

Its about voltage, and your mobo must by compatible with agp 8x/4x or agp 4x/2x for older cards. If u want buy some new graphic card AGP 8x, everything depends on your mobo.

it will work ,i have and 8x agp vga on my 4x agp motherboard without any probs.
