i got windows vista Home Premium and i get this ERROR when playing ET when i try to connect to a server :< : Game code (ui_mp_x86.dll) failed pure server check ...

the tutorial of xet is not an option, i dont have the right vista version kthx

some help pls

my brother is just flaming me cos i installed it and its not working, he told me ventrilo only supports 32bit and not 64bit..


and why is it not working then? if i install and then press the thingy to start it, it doesnt run and asks me to find the location of the file, and its nowhere in my program files :x

true, but u can emulate 32 bit on 64 bit, google for how to do that, coz tbh I dno that, don't have vista + 64bit os, have 64 bit cpu though ^^

hmm, on several websites it stated that vista automatically switches to 32 bit if you run a 32bit program on a 64 bit o/s... weird :/

w8, ill look if there's a way to make ventrilo work :)

Ok, I read that what RoxaH says (exec the program as an administrator) might be a solution, but then another problem oftenly occurs, you often have stuttering sound (out and in), and sometimes the sound doesnt work at all. Also sometimes it won't start, or just can't find your soundcard. I read that using OpenAL is a solution, try using vent through that, otherwise I don't have a solution for you :<

well the strange thing is, now i just downloaded just ventrilo 2.1.4 and that is working.. but when i download ventriloMIX to get all thingz n stuff it cant open, strange

hehe, y/w ;) (btw, try running ventrilomix on compatibilitymode, windows xp mode for example, might work ^^)

Use run as an admin when you run the setup and you can properly use it normally

64bit is a disadvantige atm, divers support is bad and there are almost none programs written for 64bit OS's.

So keep it 32bit until 64bit is more widely supported, you would have less problems.

i mean, there must be a reason why they program 64 bit OSes :/

64 bit processors can handle 64 bit in one clock cycle, so they can work with more data at the same time.

So if everything was 64 bits it would/can be faster, but since only the OS is 64 bit in most cases and the applications are still 32bits it no use of using a 64bit OS.

If the drivers for 64bit OSes are better it will have a small preformance boost I think, but most 64bit drivers suck atm.

np, and about the drivers I don't know I'm using my old FX5500 with the OMEGA drivers http://www.omegadrivers.net/ I've always had good experiences with them, but never tested them on the 8 series.
