The Day After Tomorrow. Everything in between the special effects (dialogs, character plots) is really, really shit though.

Battlestar Galactica is a BRILLIANT post-apocalyptic series with some great real world commentary on war, and humanity in general.

Obviously, much longer than a film, but worth it.

If sci-fi bothers you, the technobabble is minimal, infact, it could be shot on an aircraft carrier and keep most of the dialog intact
