What alternative irc clients are there which are worth using or does nothing come close to mirc

in an external file ;)

creat a txt-file (name it to "connect.txt") in your xchat dir with following content:

/msg [email protected] auth authname authpw
/mode youractivename +x


as connection command you have to write this:

LOAD -e connect.txt

thats all i think :o

mirc + nnscript = win... but sometimes i have to reinstall nnscript as there are bugs in current release.

only bugs what ive had with nnscript ever is that the nnscript theme dont load correctly and for that theres nnrepair.exe :-)

Xchat / Nettalk
I'm using Xchat for about 1.5 years now and it's in my opinion the best, the fastest IRC client aviable (free, non-official, but free compilation here: http://www.silverex.org ). Probably not as functional as mIRC, but the most scripts are aviable via www.xchat.org database (or whatever it was on)
