I've been fixing up an old computer I have windows installed and programmes etc but everytime I connect a CD drive windows won't boot it says "failed boot device"..
I've changed the BIOS settings so that it should never boot from cd, changed around the jumpers, and changed IDE cable to the drive and it's still the same..
The only other error I got was something like "CD/DVD drive ready but not usable"
So I swapped the drive and it's still the same..
Anyone any idea's what to do?

What Topher said, had the same but I also completley unhooked it from the mainboard and reattached the cables.
