2nd HDD

atm I only got a 250 gb hdd from Maxtor but I wanna buy a 320 gb hdd from seagate.

is it possible to use both in raid-mode? and what are the advantages/disadvantages of raid? and i guess raid0 is the best for me isnt it?

raid = safer or faster, depends.
raid 0 = faster but not that good if you want to format
raid 0 = worst thing possible
raid 0 = #careburger
If u set it in raid 0, u only got 500 gb.
why? :o so what do you suggest?

Because if you set 2 hard disks in raid 0, it takes the smallest hd and doubles it. If you realy wanna do raid 0, buy a nother 250 gb.
But i would suggest just a 500 gb Samsung hd. Afaik Raid isnt that great.

not possible, you need the same disks for a raid.
+1 with _ng you have to get two same disk. And the advantage of the raid 0 is that when you save your stuff in your HDD, it save it at the same time on the second HDD.

In clear : If you got 2x250Gb, you will got 250Gb. (Because one HDD is only for Back-up the other one).

This is usually used for dedicated servers with important stuff on it. You don't need it @ your home.

thats raid1 what you explain here. raid1 is mirrored hdd, raid0 is stripped.

My bad :D

But, hey, it doesn't change a thing in the fact that you need 2 same disks.

nothing to add :-)
