before you say omg no a e8400 no i dont want that : P

125fps stable et? and cod4? + will this board take the new 45nm quads?

Q9xxx series should appear in shops about now if you want quad core. But E8xxx series should be more than ok aswell, cause you wont feel big(any) difference compared to dualcores.

680i mobos are outdated (not sure, but may have problems with new 45 cores)

you will get much more performance from single 9600/8800GT/GTS(512mb) than from SLI 8600... so go for P35 mobo, should be much cheaper but no SLI support. (780i sli's are pretty expensive afaik, but if you get one, then 2x9600/8800GT would ve really awesome)

Get bigger HDD, 2x320gb or smting, should cost around the same

Why the fuck do you need 2 DVD drives?

yes, and 1024mb 8600gt is a waste of money. The 8800GT 512 is pretty close to the performance of a GTX.
Parent
since im buying it prebuilt they are offering to put in 2 8600gt 1024 for me and the next one up is more expensiveeee
Parent
I see, well definitely go with the 8800GT. The companies use the 1024mb ram on the 8600GT to draw in the "newbs" if you will. lol Most people still think that more ram = better performance, when in reality most "big ram" mainstream cards can't even use the full amount of it and when it can it only comes into effect most of the time at really high resolutions. If you run a really high res it is better to just spend more money and get a performance card.

buy 2x9600 gt imo :)
sli = fps monster but laggy for gamer (almost unplayable)
Parent
If you combine it with 256 mb ram and Intel Pentium 3 800mhz then you will lag like hell!
DONT BUY 8600

8600=shit

8600+8600=2 pos

go for 9600(should cost little more than single 8600) as it's as good as 8600 SLI (LOL) or even better 8800GT/GTS
take this advice!
Parent
kinda happy with my 9600 for now. bought yesterday

8800 GT > 2x 8600

SLI barely gives any boost so just buy an 8800 GT/GTS.
