Xbox 360 Chipped...?

My xbox 360 runs out of warrenty this december (=<!)

so i can get a red ring of death - and ill have to buy a new one.

when recently going to a large computer market i got a quote to get it chipped (£30-60)

but this would mean i couldn't go online. I currently dont play my xbox much and the last game i bought was Assassins Creed (the day it came out.. completed it in 2 days..gg)

i cant afford £30-50 every game.. so should i get it chipped ;o?

yes hax it... when your warranty runs out I'd do it and play with rl friends instead of xbox live which would cost you money each month aswell anyways. Just use ur pc for online gaming, you only need to buy the games and you can play.. no extra costs (not mentioning WoW, can't believe people just accept to pay that much money each month for a game.)

i thought if you get a red ring of death they'll replace it regardless of warranty or not, its just for the other stuff they care about warranty

Just flash the drive firmware? If you do it good you won't even void your warranty, so there's no problem after all :}. And xbox live is possible aswell with a modded x360, as long as the game images are stealth.

afaik if you mod the xbox then you aren't able to play on xbox live.. its to prevent cheaters which in theory is pretty good. If you do get the red ring can always try the towel thing..

I'm sure you could get the games from torrents or somewhere though so as long as you've got friends to play with it might be an idea.

I got mine (second hand bought cheap) dvd firmware hacked for £10 by someone on my campus.

download games at 20mbit/s over uni wireless from usenet then burn to cheap ritatek(or something) dvdrDL discs.


turned into a super cheap console ready for GTA4 :D which I'll be downloading on day of release :X

Yep got my wii and ps2 chipped and it's perfect (for casual on console or offline player), no need to buy anygame, and thanks to inet and your friend you can play to some game than you can't find anymore in retail <3
