movie suggestions 2nd try

Since i recently rewatched 5 Centimeters per second and just now Voices of a distant star and realized again what brilliant pieces of art they are, there is just one question left.
What other must see Anime movies! are out there?
Ofc i have already seen the Studio Ghibli movies, and other awesome flicks like "The Place promised in our early days" and "The girl who lept through time".
Sooo any suggestions?
Since there dont seem to be many good ones left i havent seen yet, you can also give suggestions for general movies. I´d prefer serious ones, especially older movies. Maybe something like "Ikiru", "Madadayo" or "12 angry men" if that is even possible.

the rest i have heard of but didn't seem to interest me that much. i rarely watch mecha anime... i'm more of a samurai type.
