irresponsive mouse

ok so fortunately i managed to fix all the problems with rtcw and im able to play it again (allebeit on my shitty laptop that is) but now there's something else thats bugging.

this problem does not only go for rtcw though it's constant :P

i have an old optical mouse with a USB wire (microsoft desktop blabla mouse) connected to my USB on my laptop. In general it works but from time to time it just stops reacting for a short period of time and then picks up again. now in windows it doesnt rly bother me but as in rtcw you sort of constantly use the mouse its become a lot more evident so if possible id like to solve this.

would any of you have any clue what the problem might be? the first thing that comes to my unexperienced mind is a 'broken USBsystem' or w/e on my laptop (if i connect the mouse to the usb plugs on the side of my laptop it doesnt connect at all so i have to use those at the back) but perhaps someone might be able to think of some kind of solution ?

thanks in advance

I had this with my old Anonymous Razer Diamondback, had the same problem after like 1/2 year of using it, i posted it here and i was told it's a known "malfunction", so i guess it's just broken :\
hm that might be but i like to think its something else! :P ul im too lazy to go see if the mouse works on the pc downstairs

prolly the cord or some connection inside the mouse is broken, happens often with razer mice. happened 2 or 3 times to me with razer DB but then the beloved and respected, godlike man named Finland Cythonic@alcohol told me not to tape the cord to my desk again and with this DB I haven't and it's been workkign samthing laik 8months alrydy :_)
ALL HAIL THE Finland Cythonic@alcohol
i hope you find a solution for this problem!!!!! <3
Clean the sensor with qtip + alcohol. If your sure it really disconnects (usb) try and replace the usb cable with another one from a cheap mouse. Other than that it could be the surface causing skipping, but i think it's your usb cable.
