desktop problems

Ok my pc is being retarded:
anyone help?
- K what happens is i load up my computer and everything works fine, apart from i cant see any of my icons on my desktop or the windows start, jst my wallpaper, iv tried everything i know... any suggestions?
(restarted..etc)

ctrl alt + del....

or ctrl+shift+esc IF ON VISTA

File ... Run (new task)

windows button + r

typ in "explorer" (without the quotes) and press enter
