how to black/white a pic?

hi.. i only got paint and dont know how to black/white a picture :o
there is "attribute-> black/white"... but this just fuck up my pic and make it black only :x

or anylittle tool?
dont want to dl 400mb photoshop :x

@edit: someone who wants to make my pic black/white is welcome too :D

most progs will let u save in grayscale....fireworks is best proggie imo....

save as monochromatic bitmap... however u will lose a lot of quality

free, small and just use "convert to greyscale" this lil prog opens anything :)
