copy a harddrive

i have a feeling my current hard disk is on the way out so im trying to copy the entire contents over on my new HD. I can't drag and drop the files because they are in use by the system and i cant copy the Hd image because they are different sizes. Any easy way of doing this or a program that can help?

Create a partition ? same size as before

my new HD is 1 mb smaller than my old one :/ cant copy the image. There is only about 4 gb to move but this is easier than a full install and settings all my programs up again

how does it say your files are in use?

maybe you can end one of your process to copy them from one place to another...

safe mode ? maybe then the files won't be used by the system and you can move them freely...

ill try that next thanks. acronis true image has made a backup for me but so far cant boot from the files i then copied from the image to my new hd.

install windaz toofoozand (or XP, if you are that futuristic) on your new HD, load from that then drag and drop? should work you egad.

btw youtube pgad. WTF :D
