Hello and good morning beloved crossfire community <3
Not that I really expect any serious help, but I have a hardware question, or want to know if someone has experience with this:
I have a asrock mobo, the 939 dual SATA II. Actually it's a shitty motherboard, but it has agp AND pcie, so back in the days I could still use my old g-card (agp) and replace it later by a pcie. Done that, worked nais.
In general the board has been reported as unstable, and I do actually have problems with it at times (blue screens, random rebooting), but usually that's only at start up, once windows was started properly there are no probs.
BUT: it has a so called "future port" you can buy a future card (~25 €). The old cpu socket and ram socket get disabled, and u will have a am2 socket and ddr2 on the future card.
That would mean I can go from my old socket 939 x2 3800+ to a am2 5000+ or even a 6000+ (with a bios update), spending 150-200 € for a nais upgrade.
Does any of u have experience with this? asrock hp says the card supports cpu up to 5200+, but I found unofficial beta bios flash so you can go up to 6000+
Sounds a bit risky though =P
Ah, you might ask yourself...why not just buy a new mobo? I want to keep my windows installation :P

just buy the 6000+ and test it, if it doesn't work sell ur CPU (still alot of people want to upgrade their single core 9393 cpu to a dual core) and buy a new cheap motherboard (AM2 motherboards arent expensive)
+ you can also flash the bios back to the original and sell ur motherboard also.
or go the safe way and buy a 5200+

Yeah I am still not sure what to do, I want a new graphiccard also probably and for that I will need new power supply, so I guess it would be best to buy just a new pc.
