there might be a connection between recent crossfire lag and yourself

monitor input lag probably, get better monitor

if its directX game, set prerenderlimit to 2 (1 if you got enough cpu powha)

what mouse btw? is it input lag in terms of a constant delay or does your mouse stop moving at certain times?

putting ET to high priority on cpu restricted system could stop mouse from moving. this is especially true with mouse that use a seperate mouse process (razerhid.exe for razermice)

if you got razer try putting razerhid.exe to a higher priority

direct input should cause input lag with a constant small delay

check windows mouse settings if 'enhanced cursor' is off

not having 10-0-0-0 should not feel like lag, more like accel :/

check lagometer while playing ET, eversince some pb upgrade i had huge lags where the mouse stopped moving. in the lagometer you should have network activity stoppnig for a few ms followed by a small spike. Afaik its pb sucking up all cpu power avi next to ET, so if ET runs at 70% cpu pb runs at 29% cpu. Maybe they decided to 'upgrade' their piece of shit so it would actually catch something (would actually raise the chances of busting ppl by few percent, downside is the huge fps lags you get from pb! i havent seen pb use 30% or more cpu, but it does now :'( )

dunno lol gl!
How to put ET on higher priority? :<

ctlr+alt+delete => right click ET.exe => set priority high

I use it when playing on pubs with music. the music stops on grush courtyard or battery near the assaultramp, anywhere where ET usually has framedrops :/

Ok thx. :P My music player lags when ET is loading map or something like that :<

Yeah, most processor cycles will go towards ET, making background apps like virusscanners or mp3 players lag when ET is at fps drops.

DInput doesn't cause any more lag than GetCursorPos does.. actually in theory it should have less delay. DInput only approaches the WM_INPUT event, which is a low level mouse API. Thing is dinput can have a buffer (16 in q3) which is useful for when multiple buttons are pressed, otherwise there can be a significant loss of coordinates/button states. This buffer can create some delay (which shouldn't make a significant difference).

Also dinput should prevent (negative) accel, as it doesn't support pointer ballistics.
