Indeed, i believe the producer of this video used the pertaining music in an ironic fashion - It's a well understood fact that the 'paperbag' scene of american beauty is a highlight of the movie, perceived to show what 'true beauty' is - Yes, the producer has used the Thomas Newman harmony that is 'American Beauty' to accentuate the fact that this duo of women are true beauty. The pinnacle of audio use in movie making it is.
