Q6600 temps

I've overclocked my Q6600 to 3.0 GHz this afternoon (9*333). With MSN etc on i'm getting temps around 40 C°. When I started stressing it with prime95, the temperature went up to around 80 degrees so I had to cancel it. A few hours later, I opened coretemp and started playing. After playing 20 minutes I pretty much shit my pants when I minimized my ET: temperatures around 80 degrees :l. I'm using a stock cooler but with a 25% clock this shouldn't cause any problems afaik. Maybe I could try overclocking it again to a lower value or I could just find something to fix these temperature issues.

CPU: INTEL Core 2 Quad Q6600 8MB Cache @ 3.0 GHz (stock cooler)

i dont get why people want to overclock their cpu if they already have a good cpu
Mainly out of curiousity + boredom :)
Parent
mainly want to blow up your cpu?
Parent
blow your cpu? Its not that easy to destroy it.

500gb? i got like 75 :<
Hey, my Q6600 is at 3ghz with a TRUE120 HSF, I get about 35C idle and about 47C prime95 4 core stress test

Is your Q6600 the G0 core?

Also, get a decent HSf, a cheap but amazing one is the Arctic Cooling Freezer Pro 7

Temps are high on load, what thermal paste are you using and which technique did you use to apply it
Is it G0 or B3 stepping? Are you using the stock thermal paste also? You won't get far with the stock cooler tbh, unless you have a very good airflow in your case.
