well, they will probably suck ass, but for learning purposes np
Then again , give names of good brands for low budgets electric guitars for newbies like me :(

well around 100 euro you just can't get a decent guitar as far as i know, but that shouldn't be such a problem if you just want to use it for learning all the chords, shapes and scales etc. I mean, if you would like to join a band with this guitar, it'll most likely sound whack.

That's my own experience with guitars at least, perhaps someone else here knows some awesome deal, but as far as i'm concerned you just pay for the quality.
Parent
Well it's my first guitar , I'm not going for this :p
Parent
get an acoustic guitar for learning then move over to electric
acoustic doesn't cost as much either
Parent
hmm better take Ibanez or Yamaha!! You won't have fun with those for a long time..
you get ibanez/yamaha sets for 200-300 euro.. if that's too much for you, you can try to buy guitar, amp, etc seperately, but I don't really think it will be cheaper then.

I started with a 100 euro set, too... was ok in the first weeks, but it never sounded good to my ears. and compared to my new (still sucking) guitar+amp (epiphone les paul + noname 30W amp) it was SHIT, really awful when I try to play on it now. maybe those from behringer or thomann are a little better (mine was from some supermarket i think :S ).
I would suggest you to save some money and buy a better set... if you don't want to stop playing guitar after 2 weeks, that would be waste of money then ofc :)
Parent
then again it's for learning purposes ... I played guitar maybe two times in my life , on a crappy acoustic guitar from 1990's ... And it was enough to make me feel it was bloody awesome :D

genre tu vas faire de la tarregui
Parent
acoustic guitars can't really sound "bad" imo ^^
but a very cheap amp will sound extremely ugly, especially in overdrive channel.. more noise than anything else.

however, you might actually be satisfied with such a sound in the first weeks, but if you really keep on playing guitar I am sure you want to and will have to buy a new guitar + amp very soon. So you'll pay twice.

Then again I have a very low budget and couldn't hear the difference between a 2500€ worth guitar and a 100€ one so I guess it doesn't matter much untill I improve ... Also buying an expensive guitar is a shame if I decide not go on in the following months ... imo :p
Parent
I'm planning to get myself a Yamaha Pacifica 112 soon.
I have a Yamaha, you can buy it, but i won't deliver it in France :p
I don't even have 100e yet and you want me to buy a 300e worth set lol :(

No job no money no expensive guitars
Or a cheap ESP will be evenly pleasing...

Epiphone / Ibanez aren't the most comfortable guitars when going cheap, at least, that's my experience.

Cheap solution to amps = TonePort GX! Needs some quality speakers though.. I use a POD X3 (nearly same sound quality as TonePort) -> Logitech 60 watt 5.1 + ESP LTD EC-1000 guitar
I'm considering an POD X3 live.. At present I just have a Behringer V-amp 2 and it is noisy, and it feels "unprecise" in it's sound. I think it's due to that it's only 32 kHz. How is the sound quality and not to mention the modelling quality of the X3?
I play various sorts of styles, but my definition of great sound is John Petrucci...

Pretty much excellent.. I love the features. You can even use two tones at a time (Like an additional solo tone, or just something to make it sound even more powerful, be creative here).

I can record something or play something live (via msn, xfire, skype?) to show these features if you're interested.
Parent
You just wanna show off your skills :D
But ya, it would own..
I'm planning on getting it from the US, the dollar is ridiculously low these days^^
Parent
Even though I'm just extremely motivated since I started in september last year doesn't mean I'm super skilled or something :D
Parent
We're all born l33t, aren't we?

But sure, I'd like to hear some tunes. I promise to say that you own afterwards.
Parent
Ohhhhh :3 Is it getting warm in here or what?

As I said in the previous thread, don't start out on electric. Yes, electric sounds cooler, but for starting get a steel-stringed acoustic.
Getting a cheap electric to sound good is a pain in the ass, which ends up with you being frustrated because everything you play sounds bad, and in the end you quit.
And for learning you don't need it. Buy an acoustic and use it for learning.

GL!
I'll see but i've always prefered the sound of an e-guitar than an acoustic ... And as I'll get lessons anyway ... Dunno
Parent
Still get an acoustic. A cheap e-guitar won't sound anything like the sound you preferred, especially not before you know very well how ot play it.
Gz on lessons ;)

+ acoustic = chickmagnet, AND you'll be able to practice a lot more, as I pointed out in the previous thread.
Parent
I'll go to the shop and see what the guys say there too , in addition :P
Parent
Good choice ;)
Parent
this man is correct

About the electric sound, it really is important indeed. I went for a TonePort + Epiphone Special combo as first guitar because I knew it would work (TonePort works for any electric but requires loads and loads of tweaking for it to sound right on a cheapo)

So if you DO decide to ditch acoustic afterall (which I don't recommend) consider this one.

Epiphone SG/LP Special II (or equivalent in price class (175/200-ish euro) from Ibanez) + Toneport = total 250-ish euro.

BUT BUY AN ACOUSTIC
Parent
whatever happened to fender strats being everyones first guitar :(
Good point..
Personally though.. No Les Paul = No guitar for me :P
Parent
