There is an Icelandic girl in my class, she understands Danish completely, but she do not want to speak it, because she thinks she sounds retarded compared to a real Dane... so don't worry mate :)

thats bullshit to behave like this, the girl will never learn the language if she doesnt speak. I noticed that on my self here at the french speaking university. If you want to learn a language you have to speak

She knows the language, I also heard her speak it and it is quite understandable. I guess she just don't want to be laughed at :)

No, because in German his word structure would be pretty much perfect, in Dutch/Flemish it wouldn't be.
