In stores I saw it for € 3989,-

I bought it for € 1800,- at an online store :D and even on online stores the prices range all the way up to 3400 or so.

I bought it at www.redcoon.nl. The price I paid is 1800 euro's including transport-costs, transport insurance etc..etc..

I have a 42 inch plasma as well (goes to bedroom now)

I've been a fan of plasma's over LCD's as well for a long time, but the current blacklevels of some LCD's are superiour to plasma's in the same price-range. The only plasma's that come close to these blacklevels are the Pioneer Kuro's and those are just a tad bit expensive :)

I've checked a couple stores to view the models and their quality with my own eyes and this one simply came out on top, even over a couple plasma's.

How is the money issue relevant to me looking for a new team?

well i hope youre right, 2000 pounds is a lot of money for a tv...oO

well if u wanna save money, u hardly go out drinking coz its just one of the most expensive things u can do randomly...so u start hardcore gaming and have some fun at home...thats how it works to save money with gaming!!

ooh haha, nah, I'm using my yearly vacationmoney payout on the tv. Money for booze is always available :)

oh the price is in euro's not pounds.

But trust me, I'm VERY anal about the quality of my screens so I took my sweet time to find a good quality TV with proper blacklevels at a reasonable enough price. Plus, ambilight is a serious plus as well :D

just out of a gutfeeling I normally wouldn't buy philips as well, but I've seen about a hundred different models in the past couple weeks in the stores and took my sweet time to analyze a whole lot of them and this one simply stood out quality- and feature-wise.

My first choices a couple weeks ago were samsungs.

same size.. 47 inch.. only its a lil bit uglyer then the other.

the prices are in Pounds on that website, so there is not 800 euro difference ;) Besides, it's not the same type. It's not just missing ambilight, but there are other features missing or different as well. Contrast ratio of that one is 5000:1, the one I bought has 8000:1 just to name a "small" difference.
