3dmark06

image: 2380-logo1

After running a few test with 3DMark06 I got a total of 10306 3dmarks

Isn't this kinda strange..? I expected to get a lot more. Especially with a Q6600.

-Got nothing OC'd
-Stock coolers
-Couple of months old..

Any causes / bottlenecks you can think of? Any _cheap_ upgrades that can boost my system a bit?

Specs:

Antec Nine Hundred
Gigabyte P35-DS3R motherboard
OCZ StealthXstream 600W PSU
INTEL Core 2 Quad Q6600 8MB Cache @ 2.4 GHz (Stock cooler)

First.
That's a normal score for your PC (HD3850)
Is it really that shit?
Parent
No, that's an okay score. The HD3850 is a midrange card, so what did you expect?
Don't compare your score to the highest scores on 3dmark06, they are using crossfire (2xhd3850) and highly overclocked quadcores to achieve the scores, but 3dmark doesn't show the exact number of gfx cards or cpu clock. 10k is fine for q6600+hd3850 without any overclock imo
Parent
It costs like 50 EUR less than a 8800 GT, and a 8800 GT pretty much owns all benchmarks :l
Parent
thats cause 8800gt owns
although hd 3850 should cost about 100€ less than 8800gt
Parent
arent they using 3870 X2?
Parent
what's your score?
Parent
? How do you mean why? On stock i got like 11k.
Parent
why do I get almost the same result with a much better pc?
Parent
mmh becus i have 4 gb ram? Tbh i have no idea. Maybe because i overclocked?
Parent
hm not because of the ram imo. i think it's because you have a quad core cpu
Parent
?

im talking about when you compare scores with other people with same cards, 3dmark06 will show you the scores from dual hd3850 users also, but it only shows that they use one hd3850. a lot of people get confused by that and think their score sucks.
Parent
I got a total of ~ 14.500

edit: wow, that's pretty bad since 3dmark06 is optimized for quad core cpu's (that's the reason why only quad core cpu's are @ the top) and I got a higher result with a dual core cpu
I knew that in a seconds after he opened this journal you'd become online
Parent
yes you are, 10-11k is totally normal for q6600+hd3850@def
Parent
ya, it can be but i thought that you mean the quad core optimization shit ^^
Parent
how many fps do u have during the cpu test?
CPU Tests
CPU1 - Red Valley
1.26 FPS
1.26 FPS
2.65 FPS
2.65 FPS
CPU2 - Red Valley

Antec Nine Hundred - thats the reason ! :D
stock Q6600 and HD3850 normal score
normal score with that vga
buy one more card for CF, else its too weak
but CF or SLi = lag :s
Parent
uuuh, i don't speak german :)
anyways, SLI / CF doesn't guarantee you lag, ofcourse there can be some problems, but they can be fixed, etc.
Parent
umm.. ok.
does this mean that CF / Sli (they didnt even test SLI) has 100% guaranteed lag in all games?
one would think there would be people raging about it if it was indeed like that.
this is the only source i've seen saying that CF causes lag.
there can be some problems with multi-gpu solutions in certain games, but nothing that can't be fixed.
Parent
yes, it's indeed lagging in all games. but they wanna fix it soon.
Parent
not rly

edit: prove me wrong :)
Parent
if you wanna belive some random website that could of had lag in their games for god knows what reason besides multi-gpu and bash sli and cf(they didn't test sli?) based on that, then ok
Parent
it's not a random website + you can read the same on all serious websites about hardware
Parent
links please. it's obvious there'll be problems in some games, but mostly they are fixed.
now link me to some trusted websites that say 'sli and cf means guaranteed lag in all games'

you still didn't say why you're bashing SLI when they only "tested" CF
Parent
I can only find german websites ;x

edit: all Multi-GPU systems are affected with the micro lagging problem
Parent
i guess the germans are the only ones to realize this then
why?
Parent
nah, I don't know how to translate "Mikroruckler" to english. but just search for "Alternate Frame Renderings (AFR)"
Parent
that motherboard doesn't support CF / sli
Parent
SLI / CF doesn't always give a better performance + my mobo doesn't support it idd :o)
Parent
well SLi / CF is benchmark pwnly and sucks for gaming due to lags
Parent
not for all games
got 8066 points with my laptop :<
whine x nie, da's wel hoog zu imos
