New PC spex

Ordered today :D

After frying my old mobo (yay for spilling drink on my case!) gave me a good excuse to finally upgrade.

Gone for:

C2Duo E8400
DFI LanParty DK mobo
512MB 8800GT gfx card
3x500GB Samsung SpinPoints (RAID 5) hdd
4GB OCZ Reaper X ram
and a 650w psu from Corsair to power it all.

Arriving tomorrow from the wonderful folk @ ebuyer.

PS. Damn you yermans for having such cheap electrical stuff.

PPS. #care (ha! beaten you bastards to it)

no, he can still use 3,5gb of it even on 32bit. 3,5gb is better than 2gb obviously and i wouldnt feel sorry for the 512mb with ddr2 prices being dirt cheap atm

mmh afaik, 8800GTX and GTS are equal on low resolutions, but on higher resolutions the GTX is better.

I played Crysis, CoD4, Bioshock, Gears of War, Assasin's Creed, World in Conflict.
Like every new game that i wanted to try:D

and all of them have new "editions" shipped. so those results are useless.. GT started it, gts then and gtx was the last, so if you compare older gts to newer gt its worse etc.

why RAID 5? - are you hosting a server?
why 8800GT? - you can get a GTS for 10 Euro more
why 650w psu? - 400W would be more than enough since you can't use SLi/CF with your mobo (if it's the DFI Lanparty DK P35-T2RS)

I've lost every bit of data I've had for the past 5 years and alot of it can't be replaced (no toph, I don't just mean the porn!) If it's taught me anything it's that backing up is ftw, hence the raid array.

We don't use euros over here and the difference between a GTS and a GT is > £10. More like £50 extra for insignificant gains.

650w means that when the next gen cards are out after the summer (i.e. the next batch of dual GPU cards following on from the 9800's) I won't have to buy a new card AND a new PSU to upgrade :)
