xbox live help pls

Right basically had xbox since x-mas and i need xbox live i plug the cable from my pc to xbox in and it says Network adapter Wired

and when it searches for ip address it says failed can someone pls help me

if you are in some network - an admin have to add the console's MAC address to the router allowed list

im using just a modem broadband atm and how could i add the address anyways? :o

I'm not a network expert, I've just written what I've done to make my xbox live works :P. If your modem works as a router too and allow you to change things by connecting with the IP address (of the router, of course, probably 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1) - check the configuration.

so you got 2 network cards?

i guess u are using windows. go to preferences of the network cards which is plugged at the modem . there you have to find the options allow others in the network to sharethis connection. then you should see in your network connection that the networksymbol changed and something like bridge is standing there (got only win in german so don't know how it is exactly called in english). that should allow your xbox to connect to the www
