its usualy to dow ith the mouse to b honest, not sure if theres any "hacks" around, but u can make your mouse work with any drivers of your choice.
I use MS Comfort optical mouse, with razer copperhead drivers for example. wich allows me to change the dpi.
cp>mouse>pointer options> change pointer speed!

Mouse: mx518 (with hyperglides)
Accelfix: Negative mouse acceleration disabled (accelfix.exe)
Mouserate: 1000hz (usbmrs11.exe) - see mouserate.exe and mouserate.jpg
dpi: 400
windows sensitivity: 3 - see windows sensitivity.jpg
