United Officially Complain To Fifa About Madrid
Quote While Manchester United have kept their counsel over the affair in recent days, they have decided enough is enough and that it is time to get tough with Madrid and officially complain to world football's governing body.
The Manchester Evening News reports that the chief executive at Old Trafford, David Gill, is sending a letter to Fifa setting out United's grievances over Real's conduct.
Meanwhile Manchester United have denied reports that emerged at the weekend claiming that manager Sir Alex Ferguson had been repeatedly frustrated in trying to contact Ronaldo via mobile phone.
The English and European champions have also rubbished claims that Fergie has been banned from Portugal's Euro 2008 camp. United explained that the Scot has no intentions of making a trip from his holiday base in the South of France to speak to Ronaldo.
The MEN also report United defender and club captain Gary Neville as saying he is convinced Ronaldo is already at the "right club," and that the Portuguese winger will shun a switch to the Bernabeu.
Ronald was quoted in recent days as saying he would welcome a move to Madrid, fuelling the speculation that has intensified since the Champions League final regarding the Portuguese winger's future intentions.
He has stopped short of unequivocally pledging his future to the Red Devils, suggesting that a transfer request could be imminent, while the Madrid sporting press have persistently added fuel to the fire with, it is alleged, the connivance of Real Madrid.
However, Neville told the MEN: "He knows he's at the right club. The adulation he receives, everything he would want is there. So I don't see a problem."
Fergie doesn't put up with people that think they're bigger than the club. When Beckham/van Nistelrooy/Stam were sold they were at their peak and they still got the boot, can imagine Ronaldo getting the same treatment!
