Anyone on CF who does it or has tried it?
I accidentally broke my rod last summer and my reel broke on it's own oldness a month ago so I've been fishing with my brother's gear and I've been planning to by some new equimpent when I'll get my first wage at the end of this month.
Anyway, I had read about these lately very popular lures, jerkbaits, and bought a floating one when I went to my friends summer cottage with a couple of my friends last weekend. They have to be used on a certain technique which gives them a special swimming movement very attractive for beast fishes such as pikes.

I got a few pikes there and I was instantly in love with jerkbaits. Even if it's floating it weights like 40g (most lures are like 5-25g) so you can reach very long throws and I liked fishing with it much more than regular lures. I instantly decided that the new equipment I'm going to buy will be for jerkbait fishing, most likely Abu Ambassadeur 5000 -reel and some jerkbait rod and ofcourse a handful of new jerkbaits.
I was so excited about my new jerkbait that I had to visit my local river this night even though there are only small pikes and my favourite spot is a bit too deep for floating lures but I got one of my most awesome fishing experiences.
The floating lure was like 2m from me and I gave it last fast pull and let it stop the last time and prepared to lift the lure up. The lure had been still for like 1second when it suddenly happened. A pike, out of fucking nowhere! Jumped on the surface and stroke my jerkbait. I nearly shitted to my pants, WHOA!! I got the pike up and it was only like 1,5kg but still, the strike was so fucking awesome. It looked much like this video and lasted about 0,5 seconds.

For the fishermans at CF who have not yet tried jerkbait fishing, I strongly recommend trying it this summer. I find it 10x more enjoyable than regular fishing.
Thanks for your interest if you really read it through and let your lines be tight! ;b
