Ubuntu 8.04

Guten Tag

A while ago I've downloaded Ubuntu 8.04 from ubuntu.com. When the download was ready I opened the winRAR-file and saw all these files... I've placed all of them in a new map. This map automatically ended on .ISO and i didn't even know maps can have different extensions.

I still want to keep all of my Windows files (Windows XP SP2) so the best thing for me to do would be a dual boot I guess. I know how to install a O/S (CD: 1. @ boot order etc blablabla) but how the hell do I get ubuntu on a CD?

I've downloaded this 700 MB file and I thought it was one big .ISO file but it seemed to be a seperate map with all sorts of files. And how should I create a dual boot? Just make a new partition on my hard disk (still have 270 GB left) and then install ubuntu on that new partition or what.

lal

wubi is no distro, wubi is a tool to get teh dualboot installation without burning any cd or dvd.

lol its f*cking useless. i thought it was a virtual OS with linux installed as a windows software.

you just burn that 700mb iso on CD and boot from it :) choose other partision to install ubuntu and the dual boot will be created automaticaly
just burn the iso file and ubuntu will automatically create a dual boot
yup... put the 'Folder'(it's actualy 1 file that opens like a folder) to a cd. boot from cd
install ubuntu on a second partition and it auto adds it...
Can I just put the entire folder on a CD (DVD... CD-R... all of it is fine?)
Parent
yes.. use nero and pick burn image and go to the 'folder'

I still need a decent burning program.

Use MagicISO imo
Parent
Don't put the folder on it , but all the files in it

If you put the folder on it , it won't work

Shouldn't I like first create on ISO instead of burning it as a normal data file...

and how can I make ONE iso-file from all these seperate ones..
?
Parent
Just select all the files and burn it on the cd

A map can't have extensions

its just named blablabla .iso

Just burn it on a disk
Burn iso, partition drive (either before hand or with gparted/whatever partition options you has @ ubuntu) and fire away.
burn the .iso file with burnimg(new dvd decrypte)
