formated pc.. lagging like hell

hi all..my windows crashed so i set up windows on a other hd.
i deleted the old windows folder an made on a old hd windows again..
installed all drivers (motherboard,gfx,sound).. but man my pc is lagging like hell..
i got a amd athlon 64 600+ with 2gb ram and a geforce 8800gts 512 mb (overclocked version). Still i have to wait 30 seconds until smth is loaded.. i mean.. i startet firefox .. this took me years.. and now i´m writing this text.. and still my msn didn´t loaded till the end oO

What could be the problem? maybe some erro because i deleted the old windows folder (other hd)... or maybe hd damaged?

or did i forgot any driver ? :o

hmm .. maybe its me new av? comodo firewall ... i dunnow
if someone got tipps .. would be nice :)

did you formatted the other hd also or just deleted the "windows" folder.

only delted windows.. its a 250gb sata hd.. like 200gb are used so it would suck rly hard if i loose all that.. or need to backupo it :x

the one where i got windows now is a 40gb ide.. 4 years old

if its such a old hd, it could be damaged. But i think you should format that other HD. Try to get a friends external HD or something. Maybe there is some problem with the registry becuz you only deleted the windows folder.

the 40gb hdd sure was empty when you installed windows right? so a format wouldnt help much anyway.

xp or vista?

xp integrated servicepacks? or none?

the hdd working in udma mode?


btw you can install windows on your 250gb hdd again, no need to loose all that stuff you got there.

ahh the idea with installing windows on it is nice.. if nothing will help i will try that on sunday.

well on the 40gb there have been alot of games.. but not more
and ye its xp prof. with service pack 2 (its stom tu-wien study version without key activation)

the last time i installed windows freshly it was fucked up right from the start, cause i got a virus as soon as the computer was connected to the internet, pain in the ass...

lool... well thats exactly why i installed the firewall + updates bevore i made anything else

The study version is rly nice :P but the only bad thing is that u can´t choose repair option :( thats why i had to reinstall windows.. repair wasn´t possible :/

best is to devide ur hd into partitions and format the partion where is ur winda.
