help with wireless internet repost

hey,

i'm reposting my journal from last night because now there's more people online.

i installed a wireless network yesterday here at home and it works like a charm for my iphone and my sister's laptop.

for me however, it keeps disconnecting every couple of minutes (it's random).

we're all on windows xp.

i don't have any problems on other wireless networks.

the router is a D-Link DIR-615 (link)

i checked in the router's settings, but can't any 'fix this goddamn router' option :)

any thoughts/info/... would be appreciated.

use wireless zero shutdown , should stop it disconnecting most of the time

I had very similar problem with my connection at uni, this seemed to fix it for me

do i have to keep it running? cuz it's kind annoying that the proggie is open.

yeah but still, when i first heard about wireless i-nets, my first thought was connection, yeha its good to get in i-net when u r @ town or smt but its like cellphone, connections lost some times...
and myself i dont like laptops

i only use a laptop, screw desktops.

dynamic ips are being assigned

try to use fixed ips, maybe it helps dunno (u need to change the dhcp option of the router ofc)

Open a file and past this in it:

SC.EXE STOP WZCSVC (with an enter on the end)

Save this file like this: STOPWZC.bat (on your desktop)

Had same problem.

You also have to make the same file but with STARTWZC.
It has to look like this:

could you briefly explain what it does exactly.

i know it messes with some process... but that's all i know.

when do i have to run the STOP, and when the START

It shut down the connections with other wireless routers. Your wireless connection stops searching connections (wich it does every second or so) when clicking STOPWZC. You can turn it back on by clicking STARTWZC

alright, it wasn't fixed after all.

i stayed on it longer than before, but after 15mins the connection was lost (altho i did stay on the wireless) so i couldn't surf.
