Maybe this game will take place in ten years and has almost the same kind of technology but just another storyline so IW can imagine what happens themselves. Until now CoD games have always been based on real events and realistic weapons and stuff. I'm surprised you are able to find similarities between two games while you most likely played neither of the two ;)
SD made an official competition mod and ET:QW TV, so your point is pretty bullshit, IW has done nothing for the competitive community. Also, CoD4 doesn't have an SDK, ET:QW does. You can change whatever you want in ET:QW, while in CoD4 you are limited to scripts.
you made me laugh pretty bad you know. Sd comp mode has been released after few months while there actually was no competitive scene in etqw anymore, cod4 wasnt as bugged as etqw and it had pam released just after the premiere, plus after release of etqw suddenly developers stated that "etqw was planned for public gaming only" also patches for etqw were totally shit, while those for cod4 made game playable
CoD4 has plenty of bugs, some ROFLMAO ones:
- you could (and still can on non PB servers) even use client side cheat commands all this time
- There was this bug which allowed you to jump 10 meters in the air by jumping on a slope (don't know if its fixed)
- there is a bug which allows your model to go prone while you are actually standing, meaning you can shoot at people while you are invisible for them
- the ranking system is bugged by design seeing you can just plant a file and get full ranks
PAM isn't made by IW
IW has done shit for the PC community with their patches, each consisting of a few hours worth of programming fixes, and then you have the entire Call of Duty scene is blessing IW for throwing them another bone.
If SD really made ET:QW for public gaming only, why did they make a TV mode and an official competition mod?
First of all i have to admit that i had just a little clue about cod4 patches, i just knew that they actually were made quite fast.
I know that PAM isnt made by IW
Still SD made ETQW for public, and that's their developers statement, if you dont belive ask one of them.
A TV mode was originally attached with etqwpro that wasnt made by SD, plus there still is no such thing like hud modification, lots of netcode bugs ant hitbox models are still there.
I wont list bugs here cause there is too much of them.
I dont think you really know anything about etqw scene since beginning just as i dont really know everything about cod4.
EDIT:
you wont some roflmao bugs, well update from 1.2 to 1.4 contained a WARNING that ENEMY artillery/airstrike is coming, plus they attached such 'valuable' thing as warning that you are traced by Turret.
REALLY competitive changes
EDIT2: i checked that you actually was part of etqw scene, but i still wonder why you think SD gave etqw any valuable support exept releasing SDK, that allowed to create etqwpro which wasnt supported by them and still is best mode for etqw
I've been following both games (CoD4 & ET:QW) since the day they got announced.
We have kind of drifted off in this discussion, as you might have noticed my original point was that no commercial game is targeted at competitive gaming.
SD's primary focus was a multiplayer game which works great in public matches, wile IW's primary focus with CoD4 was making a great single player game with a decent multiplayer mode. Both companies succeeded, but none of the two really aimed at the competitive gamer as a potential buyer.
ET:QW TV wasn't part of anything the ET:QW pro mod added to the game, it was made for the most parts by SplashDamage, though zinx (a developer for the ETPRO mod, which is not related to ET:QW Pro at all) made a head start with it, he was given the code to work with almost a year before the game started shipping. I'm not sure whether Splash Damage used any code written by zinx when they programmed the TV mode for ET:QW, seeing zinx was forced to stop working on the TV mode a few months after he started working on it, due to real life issues I believe. I don't really know why Splash Damage decided to work on a TV mode for ET:QW themselves, my guess is that they wanted to support the competitive community in the best way they could.
Supporting a niche part of your community doesn't mean you are targeting them as potential customers, seeing most of the people who played ET:QW competitively already bought the game without the TV mode (which was added in ET:QW 1.3 patch I believe).
Anyway I'm not here to exalt Splash Damage, however I do believe they are one of the best community supporting companies. Some examples include ET:QW TV, the SDK, the official competition mod (which will be released open source btw, meaning the entire community can take profit from SD's work), the innovative features they experimented with in their games, their open-ness to the community by being active on forums and IRC... They worked their asses off and deserve to get credited for their hard work.
And on the subject for CoD: WaW, I'm sure it will be played in competition, I have no idea how popular it will be. As you might have read the game features vehicles and stuff, though they are not included on all the multiplayer maps, and there might be setting to disable or limit them. It's not yet known which game modes will be included with the game either, though I've read the most basic will be in at least (Deathmatch, Team deathmatch, capture the flag). In case no Search and Destroy game mode makes it into the game I doubt you will see the game becoming an competitively successful game like Call of Duty 4 is, S&D has been one of the most competitive game modes in every game it appeared in, such as games like Counter-Strike (Defuse) and the original Call of Duty.
I guess you're right, but whether you're here to exalt SD or not you do it. Or maybe I am too embittered that such a title (etqw) was made for public matches, and whatever you say i think that most of community, and former community including me, is dissapointed. As hell.
Now i see that cod4 succeded due to its game mode, smaller maps and though half of match is camping fights are dynamic and impressive.
wow, could actually be really cool. Watch all the other sci-fi games like bf2142, and the star-wars fps games, also fun to play, although they could use lots of improvement. I think the sci-fi genre can really use an epic singleplayer story, cod + sci-fi = win imo!

mass effect is the best sci-fi i have ever played :D
edit: even if it will be more 200 years you still see cap.price with a space suit xDDD
100% straight bullets sci-fi sci-fi sci-fi sci-fi !!! <3

You make no sense and your arguments suck.
