might be true.. cause I tried it on Gaycube as well and there was no significant difference, more than 3d pokemons instead of 2d =)

I never played it on gamecube, so I was expecting a huge difference, but moves and general gameplay are pretty much the same. Only difference is slightly better graphics and more characters, the new maps are mainly annoying as hell.

I'm surprised how its been getting so many great reviews, although it seems a lot of mediocre Wii games are being given good reviews.
