but i would stick to xp and wait for windows 7, due to the fact it could take ages until its released
we will see if its released in time
tho im looking forward to it
I didn't find any performance decrease on my pc when I was using Vista, guess it's a thing of the past now. :)
Most driver issues with vista are over.
If ur planning to play DX10 games go for vista, otherwise stick with XP for preformance (it's almost the same but in some games XP is alot better)
So vista.
actually this comment should stay at the bottom and not here :D
I bet most of these guys that shout "XP" "Vista sucks" haven't even tried it for themselfes. It shows due the nature of their comments, if they would have used it, they would notice that it is not bad at all. Improved here, improved there.
As people with brains, one might have googled up few tests with XP vs. Vista, gaming benchmarks, and notice how Vista is as fast or faster than XP. Drivers are mature now, nVidia has gotten their shit together finally, and ATI is pushing monthly releases.
Vista is totally fluent with 2GB of RAM, SP1 works fine, I used Vista for first three months with 2GB and had no problems. Now I have 4GB, it's even better, but in everyday use it's hardly noticiable difference. Vista will for first few weeks cache stuff that you use most, build heuristics, so that in the future most used programs open faster. Good feature, but it needs few days/a week of time to sort itself out.
Well, all this anti-Vista shit is bit too much, and reminds me of the times when XP was released. "too much eyecandy" "games run slower" "Win98SE is better" fuck off please :D This is totally the same thing again and again, and with Windows 7 it is the same shit again. So it goes, every guy has their opinion set without using the damnit OS.
Vista has numerous features that make it far better than XP, I won't dwell into that since most people here dont know shit about that either.
Summa Summarum, for your PC, I would install Vista. Your PC is modern and fast enough for it. I wouldn't personally disable UAC, but people have different tastes on that too - I wouldn't disable it.
I didn't configure anything, people have different preferences. ET plays like on XP, no difference for me.
UAC stands for User Account Control, it is basically a safetymeasure. It asks you to allow to do certain things, the popups that people so often here speak of. I got used to them rather fast, so I didn't turn them off. But some do not like that at all.
I'd get any Vista version except Home Basic.
32 bit XP can only use 3 gig right ?
