read the "a song of ice and fire" series by george r r martin. Without a doubt the best series the world has ever seen. tolkien is a lowskiller compared to martin.
That's not even the real essence of the book. It shows how Hanna fucks up her entire life because she is ashamed about her analphabetism + I like the way it is written.
Steven Erikson - Tales of the Malazan Book of the Fallen (serie with 8 books so far)
Robert Jordan (RIP) - Wheel of Time (11 books so far, last one due next year)
G.R.R. Martin - A Song of Ice and Fire (4 books so far, around 8 in total)
Not really actually. I've read SoT until book 8 (Naked Empire) and so far only 2 books (nr 2 and 6) could amaze me. The others were mediocre at best. Goodkind's problem is that he keeps repeating everything which has ever happened. The first 150 pages of all his books are practically summarizations of what has happened before. Rrrrrrrrreally annoying.
atm reading Lee Child - The Hard Way
read more than 3/4 of this book and it owns, honestly
Ken Follett, Colin Forbes - my fav lads. Coben is not bad. Child will probably join first two guys as his book is really interesting. I dislike Brown tho- he's like "low+ max" on the market imo
George Orwell - 1984 best book there ever was.
People may not like J.R.R. Tolkien, but Lord of the Rings is epic win if you ignore the racism.
Harry Potter olol
Ken Follet, pretty much every book of him is nice.
If you like specialised/political books, i can only recommend you the books of Noam Chomsky.
Most novels are about 80,000 words, with Lord of the Rings totaling about half a million words, mostly about walking.
and the silmarillion is as boring as the bible :D
Pffff...a lot:
Death Gate Cycle (7 books) by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman
Dragonlance Series by them as well ( lots of books, around 12 afaik)
Lord of the Rings by JRR Tolkien
Magician Trilogy by Raymond E. Feist (3 books and about 6 books following it up)
A Song of Fire and Ice Series by George R. Martin (around 8 books)
Temeraire series by Naomi Novik (atm 5 books, but still coming more)
Robert Jordan - Wheel of Time
G.R.R. Martin - A song of Ice and Fire
Naomi Novik - Temeraire
Raymond E. Feist - every single book he wrote:p
Christopher Paoloni - Eragon series
And Robin Hobb isn't bad either
edit: benX :p
I'm not sure what the title is like in English.
Currently I'm reading: Last night a dj saved my life, which tells the entire history of disc jockeys.
I'm not a person that loves to read though, I hate it.

If u liked Jordan and Martin u should try Erikson (books only avi in english tho), he is sublime. Best author I have ever read.
Dan Brown - Sakrileg
Dan Brown - Diabolus
Patrick Süßkind - Das Parfüm
Ottfried Preußler - Krabat

I was probably confusing it a bit with Steven Erikson's Tales.
