im more just curious as to if 125/125 would disadvantage me in anyway, as players have told me "it's bad" but I've never had a real explanation

With 125/125 new frames will start to be drawn on some random place on your screen, which will result in what is known as tearing. You can describe it as some annoying jittering horizontal line on your screen. The only way to get rid of that is to use vertical-syncing (r_swapinterval 1) but for ET that is not recommended due to other side effects (perhaps someone else can explain why r_swapinterval 1 is bad on et again. I forgot)

I recon the best would be simply that what feels fine for you. Try both 140/125 and 120/125 and see which looks better in your eyes. You will not achieve an improvement in how you play or anything, it's just about what looks best to your eyes.

I've been behind computers my entire life ever since I was 11. I'm 36 now so that's 25 years. I've been behind actual old-ass TV screens at a distance of maybe 50 cm for years in a row and guess what. My eyesight is perfect. 20/20 vision here mate.

So much for the "old TV-screens and lowHz Monitors will kill your eyes" theory.

1. It looks more like a blog / newssite than a trustable source of scientific information.
2. I don't need to be convinced that Tv's and Monitors are not bad for your eyes.
3. You are too lazy to proof your own point by directing me to an english research that has facts and or a conclusion where it says that Tv's and Monitors are in fact dangerous for your eyes.

Like a random jewish website is scientifical evidence. In case you didn't know, radiance is almost everywhere on this world (wifi, radio, gprs, satellite for example). In other words, if you are right... the chance you die, because of CANCER is incredibly high. Most things in life aren't unhealthy in my opinion till a certain degree. For example if I smoke once every two weeks, the chance I die from cancer is nihil. If these types of radiance will kill, can imo only be proven in the future.

140/125. I would love to have that. but depends also @ resolution. if u are using like r_mode 4 with that then I would use 120/125 & bigger resolution.

buy TFT and use 75hz so you dont have to worry about it

with analog cable i could have 75 hz
with dvi (digital) cable i can only have 60 hz :<
to have 75 i need to lower reso :O

120hz/125fps bestest for sync. you loose only 5fps
125hz/125fps tearing on the q3 enfine, r_swapinterval 1 makes lag delay - don't use it on q3 games
140hz/125fps some frames rendered are showed twice, some aren't = it doesn't feel smooth. 140hz/143fps should be better (1000/7) but impossible with shitty cb config

120Hz/125FPS wins!

60hz/125fps is rly the best. not :'(

based on my testings if i remember correctly 120/125 and 125/125 look almost the same 140/125 makes crosshair movement "weird" so i would just stick to 120/125
