Windows XP problem

Hey,
Like half an hour ago I've started up my pc. But when windows was loaded and the welcome message was on my screen it took this long untill I came to my desktop. But I my desktop was fully clean: no links on my desktop and I didn't even had that bar that should be seen down on your screen (with the START button).

So it's a bit of a fucked up situation. I was wondering if anyone could help me getting this problem solved.

Btw, if you're wondering how I got my browser started: CTRL+ALT+DELETE.

Thanks in advance.

I don't know how to get that shit starting if I don't have the START button in my screen. If you do know how to get that starting by browsing throw your PC, than I would like to hear it.

QuoteRecently, my computer will sometimes start up or suddenly not show my desktop icons and taskbar. I do ctrl+alt+delete, click File...New (run) and run the explorer, which makes everything work again.

try that?

I found the same on some search result on google. Now it's working again. But thanks a lot.

as long as you have no hardware problems, you can count yourself as lucky... just google or format in your worst case
sounds like explorer.exe is broke maybe?
do you use wlan?
The problem is solved.
In case it occurs again, do the following:

When booting and you see no screen, press ctrlaltdelete and start a new process, type the following in the processbar: explorer.exe

now it should boot your desktop with the icons and stuff

then go to start - run - type: msconfig - make sure explorer is in startup and services.

Typing msconfig and clicking OK does nothing?
Parent
msconfig should pop up some window, where you could choose startup, but i dont think you could add it as startup from there, thought
Parent
would be nice to know how :o

Well, as Spree said, I've started explorer.exe by starting a new process on CTRL+ALT+DELETE. And the task bar showed up.

Btw, F:\WINDOWS\Explorer.exe ("C:\" if you have windows on your C disk.)

"explorer" werkt ook gewoon

i,ve had this problem! the only way i know to fix it is to reinstall system...
Next time ask xfire.be first :D
Parent
install vista
Damn this hack thing seems to work :o
ctrl+start+delete .. execute .. msconfig .. from there you are able to start the system restoration tool ..

besides that, try to remember what you've done before you've restarted your pc..

and don't you dare callin' me any names, otherwise you're in trouble
