audio out of sync

my audio is out of sync in many fragmovies i use windows mediaplayer classic with core avc 1.7.0.0 or just vlc and have no other codecs installed
sound starts in the right place but moves further away as the movie goes on..
anyone has an idea what might be causing this?
not 100% sure but seems like theres only problems with .mp4 movies

AMD Athlon XP, 2166 MHz (13 x 167) 3000+

I bet you can watch x264 800x600 movies perfectly.. But 1280x720 is already too much for such old cpu :<

A typical H.264 ET movie in 1280x720 (25 FPS) uses less than 50% of my CPU (Athlon 3800+) in VLC, so I don't think he should have any problems if he's using a faster codec.

The easy thing to do would be to check the CPU load during playback, then he'll know if that's the problem.

1280x720 is not too much, I have even worse CPU than HansoO yet I can watch most movies without any problems. It's the bad encoding what's killing the CPU

raising priority helped so it is just bad hardware :(
